Pixel Art Editor
Draw pixel sprites on a grid and export them as PNG images.
The Pixel Art Editor is a lightweight canvas for drawing pixel art: pick a grid size (8×8 up to 32×32), choose from the palette or any custom color, click and drag to paint, erase, and export your creation as a PNG.
Pixel art is the modern retro — icons, sprites and avatars built one square at a time. The editor keeps the essentials: a drawing grid, an eraser, a clean slate, and export at a chunky scale so each pixel stays crisp. Click-drag painting makes filling areas fast.
All drawing happens locally on an HTML canvas — nothing is uploaded, and your art exists only where you save it. Export finishes with one click.
Click or drag to draw. Exports at 8px per cell — draw pixel characters, sprites and icons, all locally in your browser.
How to use the Pixel Art Editor
- Pick a grid size (8, 16 or 32).
- Select a color from the palette or the color picker.
- Click or drag across the grid to paint.
- Toggle the eraser to remove pixels.
- Click 'Export PNG' to download your art.
Frequently asked questions
What is pixel art used for?
Game sprites and icons, avatars, profile pictures, cross-stitch patterns and decorative 8-bit graphics. Small grids are the classic starting point for learning sprite design.
How large is the exported image?
Each grid cell exports at 8×8 pixels, so a 16×16 drawing becomes a 128×128 PNG — sharp, since the editor scales without smoothing. Your source remains pixel-exact.
Can I undo mistakes?
This editor is intentionally minimal — the eraser and Clear button are the corrections. For complex pieces, save drafts by exporting as you go.
