Days Between Dates

Count the exact number of days between any two dates — instantly.

How many days are there between January 1 and September 6? Between your last vacation and the next one? Between the contract signing and the delivery date? The Days Between Dates tool answers with a precise calendar-day count — no more counting on your fingers or second-guessing whether leap years matter.

You can optionally include the end date in the count, which changes the answer by one day and matters for certain calculations: 'days until the event' usually excludes the end date, while 'days of vacation including the last day' includes it. Toggle the checkbox and watch the number update.

The same tool reports the span in weeks, average months and years so you can phrase the answer however you need. Every calculation is exact calendar math performed locally in your browser — your dates never leave your device.

Frequently asked questions

Do the start and end dates count as days?

By default, the calculator counts whole days from the start date up to (but not including) the end date, which matches how 'how many days until' is usually understood. Tick 'Include the end date' to add one day when you need an inclusive count, such as hotel nights or an event that spans both dates.

How many days are between two dates across a leap year?

Exactly as many as the calendar really has — the count includes February 29 when the span crosses a leap day. For example, the days between March 1, 2023 and March 1, 2024 number 366, not 365.

How is this different from the Date Difference Calculator?

This tool answers the quick question 'how many days?' in total (plus weeks/months/years). The Date Difference Calculator shows the full calendar breakdown in years, months and days, which is what you want when phrasing a duration like '2 years, 5 months and 12 days'.

Does it count only business days?

No — this counter includes every calendar day. For counts that skip weekends and holidays (delivery lead times, HR notice periods), use the Workdays Calculator or Business Days Calculator in the same collection.
