Workdays Calculator

Count the number of working days between two dates, excluding weekends and holidays.

The Workdays Calculator counts exactly how many Monday-to-Friday working days fall between two dates — skipping weekends automatically and any holidays you list. It is the number behind delivery promises, approval timelines, notice periods and 'how many working days will this take' questions in offices everywhere.

Beyond the workday count, the same result shows how many weekend days and how many listed holidays fall inside the range, plus the raw calendar-day total. If a holiday you enter lands on a weekend, it is not double-counted — only weekday holidays are subtracted.

Paste or type your holidays as simple YYYY-MM-DD dates (one per line or comma-separated) — public holidays, company shutdown days, or your own days off. Everything runs in your browser with no uploads. For the reverse question — 'what date is N business days from now?' — use the Business Days Calculator.

How to use the Workdays Calculator

  1. Enter the start and end dates of the period.
  2. Optionally add holidays to exclude — one YYYY-MM-DD per line, comma-separated works too.
  3. Tick 'Include the end date' if your period includes both endpoints.
  4. Read the number of workdays (Mon–Fri), plus weekends, excluded holidays and total days.
  5. Adjust dates or holidays and watch every figure update instantly.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as a workday?

Monday through Friday. Saturdays and Sundays are always excluded. Holidays you enter are excluded only when they fall on a weekday — a holiday on a Saturday is already outside the workweek, so it is not subtracted twice.

How do I count working days including the end date?

Tick the 'Include the end date' checkbox. This adds the end date to the range if it is a weekday, which matters when a deadline is phrased as 'X working days, finishing on the last day'.

Do different countries' public holidays affect the count?

Only the ones you type in. The tool has no built-in national calendar — add any holidays relevant to your country, company or project, and they are excluded from the count automatically.

Why is my answer different from a simple days ÷ 7 × 5 estimate?

Because the true count depends on where the period starts and ends: a 10-day span from Friday to Monday contains only 2 workdays, while Monday to the following Wednesday (10 days) contains 7. The calculator counts each real day instead of approximating.
